Casinos in Mozambique
The relative deficiency in the numbers of, Mozambique's casinos is in 1 sense kind of bewildering, in one way or another.
In years gone by, the area was a region where many South Africans would go to to get away from the incredibly restrictive principles on games of chance (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. For these reasons, you are likely to think of a aura of a flourishing location to accommodate that tourist market.
At the same time, perhaps it is not particularly a surprise. The city is undeniably the most bankrupt in the world, having been through a gruesome civil war (followed by destructive floods) from which it is still, very slowly, recovering. This may make a location less of a tourist target, despite the fact that there is currently a favorable display along several of the region's outstanding beaches.
It is added to that accurate that regionally at a minimum, Mozambique's casinos have had to cross with several others in the recently liberalized South Africa, including the well-known Sun City founded by the Kerzner family management.
Here is a list of Casinos in Mozambique:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are seventy eight slot machines as well as video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, in addition a poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and 2 tables for poker as well as punto banco.
It is thought that over time the entire tourism business in Mozambique will expand dramatically. While the local languages are, apparently, African, there is at the same time the remnant of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the distinctive and expanding emergence of English, both from South Africa and as part of the world phenomenon. The country is distinctly cheap (clearly, as it is very poor) and as above, has some of the most beautiful beaches worldwide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the kinds of assets that make tourism officials drool, and as the country escalates out of its existing slump, it is likely that not only will tourism build, but that the list of Mozambique's casinos will grow longer as well.
While the country is not likely to ever regain its distinction as a focal point for partying South Africans, as there are now other choices closer to home for them to relish in, the growth of a long distance tourism sector is being planned. This would be to accommodate Europeans looking for winter sun, as an escape from the dullness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Plus, obviously, the finest prawns (shrimp) over the world derive from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
