The act of living in Zimbabwe is something of a risk at the current time, so you could think that there might be little appetite for visiting Zimbabwe's casinos. In fact, it appears to be operating the opposite way, with the critical market conditions leading to a bigger desire to wager, to try and locate a quick win, a way out of the problems.

For most of the people surviving on the abysmal nearby wages, there are two established types of gambling, the state lottery and Zimbet. As with most everywhere else on the globe, there is a state lottery where the odds of profiting are remarkably tiny, but then the prizes are also surprisingly high. It's been said by economists who understand the subject that the majority don't purchase a ticket with an actual assumption of profiting. Zimbet is centered on either the national or the English soccer leagues and involves predicting the results of future games.

Zimbabwe's gambling dens, on the other foot, look after the considerably rich of the state and vacationers. Until recently, there was a considerably big sightseeing business, based on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The market woes and connected violence have carved into this market.

Among Zimbabwe's gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slot machines, and the Plumtree gambling hall, which has only slots. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just slot machines. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which offer table games, slot machines and video poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the two of which has slot machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe's gambling dens and the previously alluded to lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there are a total of two horse racing tracks in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the market has deflated by more than forty percent in recent years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has cropped up, it is not understood how well the vacationing industry which is the backbone of Zimbabwe's gambling halls will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will carry on till conditions get better is basically not known.
