The act of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a risk at the current time, so you might think that there might be very little appetite for visiting Zimbabwe's casinos. Actually, it seems to be working the other way around, with the crucial economic circumstances leading to a bigger desire to wager, to attempt to find a quick win, a way out of the situation.

For almost all of the locals surviving on the abysmal nearby money, there are 2 established styles of betting, the state lottery and Zimbet. Just as with most everywhere else in the world, there is a national lotto where the probabilities of profiting are unbelievably small, but then the jackpots are also surprisingly high. It's been said by financial experts who look at the idea that many do not buy a card with an actual belief of winning. Zimbet is founded on either the domestic or the English soccer divisions and involves determining the results of future games.

Zimbabwe's gambling halls, on the other shoe, look after the astonishingly rich of the state and travelers. Up till a short time ago, there was a very substantial tourist business, built on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic collapse and connected conflict have cut into this trade.

Among Zimbabwe's gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree gambling hall, which has only slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just slots. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which have table games, one armed bandits and video machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, both of which has slot machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe's gambling dens and the above mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there are a total of two horse racing tracks in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd city) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the market has contracted by beyond 40% in recent years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has cropped up, it is not known how healthy the tourist business which is the backbone of Zimbabwe's casinos will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will survive till conditions improve is simply not known.
